Hello everyone...

Crafting can be so relaxing and so therapeutic. That is what it does to me. I feel happy when I am crafting. Heartfelt Creations has most beautiful papers and stamps with coordinating dies to create wonderful projects. I love making cards and albums with these papers and accessories.
Today , I decided to try something new with my products. I am addicted to decoupage  these days.
Those who do not know about this art, decoupage is an old art of adhering paper on any surface and then sealing it with varnish or a sealant. One can create a wide range of projects with the art of decoupage.
I have made a wall decor piece with a note pad holder. A versatile project that can be very user friendly and yet be used as a decorative piece.

Decoupage Note pad Holder

HCPC-3545—Open leaf cling stamp set
HCD1-736-classic Leaf die
Deluxe Flower Shaping kit
Designer dries clear glue
Ultrafine micro glitter.

Mod Podge glue-matte, Mod podge crackle medium, Folk art acrylic paint-brown, Folk art Acrylic paint-Green apple, White acrylic paint, Black texture paste
Archival inks-deep purple, Dandelion, Library green, olive. Artificial pollens, Wycinanka chip board, seam binding ribbon- Stencil brush, wide flat brush or sponge brush, Brick stencil, Post it note pad, pencil. 2 8”x8” blank MDF placemats

Gather all the things needed to create the project. Apply two coats of white acrylic paint on the place mats. Place the pattern paper on the placemats and cut out the portion you need. Make an outline with pencil 4 mm inside the pattern paper on the placemats. Apply brown acrylic paint on the part that does not have paper. Dry it very well. Apply Mod Podge crackle medium in even coat in one direction with sponge brush and leave for one hour. Do not apply a second coat. Apply a layer of White Acrylic paint mixed with Green apple colour in the same direction. As the colour dries, the cracks begin to show. Apply in single layer. Add some green colour on the outlined pencil area with a stencil brush giving a stippled look. Apply a coat of mod podge on the back of the paper and also on the area where it will be stuck. Paste very well so that no creases are there. Add paint with sponge or stencil brush as shown.
Apply another coat of mod podge and let it dry.
Add brick wall texture using brick stencil and texture paste.
Make flowers using the Classic rose Cling stamp and die and shade them with purple colour. Shape on flower shaping kit.
Make leaves using the leaf stamp and die.
Adhere the leaves and flowers on the project as shown. Add the Chipboard frame with photo. Stick the post it notes and add a pencil on side.
Colour seam binding ribbon with green colour and tie the two placemats as shown.
Use it as a memo pad holder and also as a wall decor piece. This can be wiped with soft cloth to keep it clean.

Hello everyone.

This is Anita here and I have a something wonderful lined up for you in the entire month of product, techniques and lot of information.
We are talking about DECOUPAGE----yes!!!!! I am sure you all must be very excited as much as I am because I am going share some super awesome products with you, which will give a new meaning to the art of Decoupage.

What exactly is decoupage??
In very simple term, it is the art of adhering paper on to various surfaces like, wood, glass, metal ,plastic etc. with glue and then applying coats of varnish and lacquer on top to seal the desin and make it water proof and dust proof.
Plaid Craft has brought a whole new revolution to the art of Decoupage with their chalk paints, acrylic paints, the most popular Mod Podge, crackle medium, varnish and also many tools and accessories to help us in this art.
I am so happy to tell you that Crafters Corner has all and  YES !!!!! ALL the products that you can use for decoupage right there for you.
And its my promise to you that once you use chalk colours you will not touch any other paint when it comes to Decoupage. WHY ??? You will soon know!!!!

What is Home Decor chalk paint???

It is a high pigment acrylic paint with ultra matte finish used for various surfaces like wood, metal, glass etc. if this paint is used, then the surface requires on  preparation of primaring or sanding. thus saving a lot of time and labour. You can directly use it. It is for indoor use and is not dishwasher safe. However the application of Home Decor wax or varnish can make it suitable for outside.

How much coverage do we get from one bottle??

One bottle of chalk paint has 8 fl.oz that covers 20 feet of surface year and so it proves to be very economical. This however, depends upon the thickness of paint and its application.

Is it same as chalk board paint or diffferent?

Picture from Google.

No both are different. Chalkboard paints will cover the surface to give a chalk board finish where one can write with a stick of chalk, Whereas, chalk paints are acrylic paints used for covering or restoring surfaces.

Are they different from Folkart Acrylic paints???

Yes , they are two different products. Although both are acrylic paint, Folk Art acrylic paint has a sheen to it ie it gives a glossy coat but chalk paint gives Ultra Smooth Matte finish. In my video, I show you the difference.

So now that we know so much about chalk paints, let us start using them. I am showing you how to make beautiful vintage placemat with decoupage through a video tutorial. I have explained  and talked about the products and techniques in detail but then also, if you do not understand any where or have any question, please feel free to ask me.

A video tutorial.
